Mirjam van Leer
Mirjam van Leer is an affiliated researcher at the Van Vollenhoven Institute.
Mirjam van Leer obtained a Masters in Sociology (cum laude) at the University of Amsterdam. She conducted research on hospitality through extensive interviews with Dutch host families and their guests - refugees from former Yugoslavia. She was a tutor at Utrecht University College and taught interviewing techniques at the Faculty of Social Sciences of Utrecht University. Currently, she works as a professional interviewer.
As an affiliated researcher at the VVI she will be collaborating with Prof. dr. Maartje van der Woude on issues of hospitality in the Netherlands in relation to the so-called refugee crisis. They are working on collecting data in current-day Netherlands among host-families and their guests. In doing so, Mirjam will also be contributing to NORDHOST: Nordic Hospitality in a context of Migration and Refugee Crisis.
