Fields of interest

My fields of interest cover business, culture and society in Southeast Asia. My research specialization lies in the ethnography of entrepreneurship and management among Southeast Asia’s ethnic Chinese, particularly in Cambodia and Thailand. In my publications, I build on anthropological (ethnicity, patronage, kinship) and sociological (embeddedness, institutions) concepts to uncover the socio-cultural dynamics within the business sphere, and I position these dynamics in the history and political economy of Southeast Asia.
