Research

My research focuses on implicit and explicit learning mechanisms that can mediate conditioned placebo effects in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. The aim of my research project is to optimize treatment effects by means of pharmacological conditioning and an online health training in this patient group. Furthermore, special focus is directed at understanding the psychological and neurobiological determinants of these learning mechanisms. This research project is part of the ERC Consolidator Grant entitled ‘Empowering expectations for health and disease: Training the immune and endocrine system’ (PI: prof. dr. Andrea W.M. Evers).
