Working title: 'Measuring Corporate Social Responsibility in MBA Management Education'. Dual PhD candidate at Leiden University Dual PhD Centre.
Maryke's research is set in the context of the increased scrutiny of graduate management education in general and MBA education in particular for the role they play in society. MBA programmes are often accused of teaching nothing more than the bottom line which cultivates business leaders with no regard for the effect of their decisions and actions on the environment and society at large. This debate around the value of MBA management education begs the question of what impact these programmes have. Maryke is contributing to this debate by investigating whether MBA programmes lead to the acquiring of sustainable values in MBA participants and, if they do, she seeks to ascertain through which processes or actions this takes place.
Maryke obtained her Bachelors Degree (cum laude) in Industrial Psychology with a special track in Journalism as well as her Masters Degree (cum laude) in Development and Management from the North-West University, Potchefstroom in her native South Africa. She is a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society. She has held various global professional roles, mainly in the education industry. She is currently Director of Marketing & Admissions at Rotterdam School of Management (RSM), Erasmus University in the Netherlands. She serves on several advisory boards in the graduate management education sphere, including The MBATour, the Graduate Management Admission Council and MBATube.
