Marleen Groeneveld obtained her PhD at the Child and Education department, at Leiden University, focusing on professional childcare. She conducted two studies concerning (1) quality of center-based and home-based childcare, and associations with cortisol and wellbeing of children, and (2) a randomized controlled trial directed at enhancing childcare quality. After obtaining her PhD, she started working as a Postdoc researcher in two large longitudinal studies that focused on gender socialization in the family and school context both (financed by the ERC). In the first project, she supervised four PhD students, who all received their PhD’s in 2015. In the current longitudinal project, she supervises five PhD students. In addition, Marleen is involved in a study focusing on gender socialization of young children in Dutch ethnic majority and ethnic minority families, supervising one PhD student. Besides these research project, Marleen is involved in the project ‘Children in the City’, focused on language stimulation of children with a migration background in primary schools in The Hague.
