Maarten van Buuren is a specialist in corporate and commercial law. Since 1993, Maarten has worked in corporate and company law. He has mainly worked as a lawyer and legal advisor for Netherlands-based national and international public and private companies, many of which are mid-market or family owned, and for institutions and investment funds. Maarten has worked as a lawyer in a number of industries, including nutrition, fashion, logistics, life sciences, chemical, ICT, health, automotive and retail. He has accumulated vast expertise in handling larger and complex issues, such as joint ventures, partnerships, mergers and acquisitions, directors and shareholder liability, corporate restructuring, corporate litigation and commercial contracts.

Maarten’s focus lies on company advice on complex corporate and commercial issues, in particular concerning joint ventures, partnerships, mergers and acquisitions, commercial contracts and corporate litigation.

Before taking on his current roles, Maarten joined EY in 1993 as a Corporate Law Advisor. From 1995 to 1997, Maarten was an lawyer with law firm Lexwell based on Sint Maarten. In 1998, Maarten returned to the Netherlands as a lawyer to assist the formation of Holland Van Gijzen, an EY-affiliated law firm that now belongs to the top 10. Between 2002 and 2013, Maarten worked for a mid-size law firm in The Hague and Leiden (DeClercq) helping to set up its corporate and business law group. Maarten was a Partner in that firm and Managing Partner in 2010 and 2011. He joined WLP-Law in 2013.
