Kaela Slavik is a PhD candidate working on the ERC-funded INSCONS project, which looks at the organisational dynamics of international scientific consortia. The research that these complex organisations conduct underpins the science-based solutions that society needs in order to achieve global sustainability. Kaela wants to better understand how the structure and coordination of these organisations help or hinder their ability to achieve their objectives. From this, she hopes to gain insight into how we can make international collaborations in science more effective in the future. Kaela comes to us from Australia, where she completed her undergraduate studies in Environmental Science and Marine Science. She then ventured to Europe, where she pursued an Erasmus Mundus Master of Environmental Science, Policy and Management (MESPOM). For the two years prior to starting at Leiden University, Kaela worked with Future Earth.
