Joren Selleslaghs is a diplomat in training at the Belgian Ministry for Foreign Affairs and International Trade as from October 2017. He is currently working as a Diplomatic Counsellor at the Belgian Embassy towards the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
Joren is also a PhD researcher and lecturer on EU International Relations and Diplomacy at Leiden University as well as Associate Research Fellow at the United Nations University Center for Regional Integration Studies (UNU-CRIS). He graduated cum laude from the College of Europe (MA EU International Relations and Diplomacy Studies) and magna cum laude at the Institute for European Studies of the Université Libre de Bruxelles (MSc European Studies).
Joren previously worked as an EU Innovation Consultant at PNO Consultants (the Netherlands), The Hague Centre for Strategic Studies, the cabinet of a Belgian Member of the European Parliament and the External Relations department of the Belgian Permanent Representation towards the European Union. Until October 2017, Joren was also an external evaluator/expert for the European Commission and member of the Board of Directors of the Europe-Central America Chamber of Commerce. He was the Belgian Youth Ambassador towards the UN in 2011-2012 and active as a development worker for UNICEF in Tanzania and Central America (2007-2008 and 2012).
