Jemma Middleton is lecturer at the Institute Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology. She holds an MSc in Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology from Leiden University. During her Master's, Jemma researched the experiences of intimacy amongst polyamorists in the Netherlands, through which she could engage in the subjects of emotions, normativity and stigma. The project was partially auto-ethnographic, as she critically reflected on her position as a polyamorist and how that influenced the research process. During her Bachelor's, she furthermore focused on the Middle-East, art, digital anthropology, consumption, gender and sexuality.
Jemma also assists in the fieldwork preparations of Master's students of the Policy in Practice track, during the course Research Design.
You can find Jemma from Tuesday until Thursday in her office in room 3.A37.
