Hugo de Vos works as a PhD student at the Institute of Public Administration and at the Leiden Center for Data Science (LCDS). In his interdisciplinary research he looks at how techniques from automatic text analysis can be used to answer questions about public administration. These techniques are used to investigate the large collection of documents of the European Union.

Hugo de Vos works as a PhD student at the Institute of Public Administration and at the Leiden Center for Data Science (LCDS). These techniques are used to investigate the large collection of documents of the European Union.

Hugo obtained his Bachelor's degree in General Linguistics from Radboud University Nijmegen. In his Master he specialized in Computational Linguistics and in particular Text Mining, Information Retrieval and the use of Machine Learning. For his graduation he has done research on techniques for automatically generating a legal thesaurus.

The promoter of the research is Bernard Steunenberg.

His other supervisors are Rik de Ruiter, Suzan Verberne and Willem Heiser.
