Professional experience

Henrik received his BSc degree in Biology in 2013 and his MSc degree in Biological Sciences in 2015 at the University of Amsterdam. During his MSc, Henrik specialized in Ecology and Evolution and obtained a keen interest in the anthropogenic impact on natural systems.

He performed two major projects during his master focusing on i) effects of inbreeding and outbreeding of remnant populations of the primrose Primula vulgaris and ii) effects of metal-polluted soils to multiple generations of the soil-dwelling species Enchytraeus crypticus.

Henrik started as a PhD researcher at the Conservation Biology department of CML in September 2015.

Research topic

Henrik’s research is focused on describing and quantifying the influence of chemicals in ditch systems. Generally, the effects of chemicals in the field are influenced by a great number of additional factors such as nutrient loadings and even predation. The aim of Henrik’s project is to distinguish the effects of chemical stressors, specifically pesticides, from all other abiotic and biotic factors that occur in the field.
