Henk Dekker is professor emeritus of Political Socialization and Integration at Leiden University. He studied Political Science at the Free University in Amsterdam (1966-1972), was a secondary school teacher social studies (1970-1975), received his Ph.D. Social Sciences from the University of Groningen for his dissertation 'Politics at school' (1986), was guest professor Methodology at the KU Leuven (1992), professor by special appointment for the social-scientific study of the Germany-Netherlands relations at Utrecht University (1998-2008), director of the European Research Center on Migration and Ethnic Relations at Utrecht University (2002-2008), vice-dean of the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences of Leiden University (2006-2014), and director of the Centre for Education and Learning of the alliance of Leiden University, the Delft University of Technology and Erasmus University Rotterdam (2014-2018). In 2005 he received the Nevitt Sanford Award from the International Society of Political Psychology.
