Guiyin Wang graduated in 2013 with a bachelor degree in Agricultural Resources and Environment at Sichuan Agricultural University. From 2013 to 2015 he received his master’s degree at the same university, with the research mainly focusing on the application of nanomaterials to remediation heavy metal-polluted soil. From September, 2015, he became the PhD student in the College of Environment Sciences of Sichuan Agricultural University. He joined the Department of Conservation Biology of Institute of Environmental Science (CML) of Leiden University in September 2017, and is currently undertaking a PhD project on the fate and ecotoxicity assessment of Pb-based perovskite nanoparticles.
Pb-based perovskite nanoparticles have become very popular in development of solar cell technology over the last few years due to their high-power conversion efficiency and cheap manufacturing. They release into the aquatic and soil environment could occur during the solar cell production and handling, which will inevitably lead to the eventual exposure of humans and environmental receptors. Hence, understanding the fate and ecotoxicity of the Pb-based perovskite nanoparticles could be helpful to improve and ultimately commercialize perovskite-based solar cells.
As a visiting PhD student, his research topic is ‘fate and ecotoxicity assessment of Pb-based perovskite nanoparticles’ during his 2-year stay in Leiden University. This research is aimed at investigating the behavior and fate of Pb-based perovskite nanoparticles under different environmental conditions like pH, natural organic matter and electrolyte. Their influences on soil microbial communities using Biolog Technique are also investigated.
