Guilherme has been working as a Program Assistant for the Advanced LL.M. in Law and Digital Technologies since January 2022. Guilherme is also a member of the Center for Law and Digital Technologies (eLaw). 

Guilherme holds a Bachelor of Laws from Fundação Getúlio Vargas – FGV Rio (2009-2015), an LL.M. in Constitutional Civil Law from Rio de Janeiro State University (2012-2013) and an Advanced LL.M. in Law and Digital Technologies from Leiden University (2020-2021). Guilherme also worked as a contributor in several academic endeavors to Luiz Fux, a justice in the Brazilian Supreme Court (Supremo Tribunal Federal – STF). Regarding this point, his thesis topic submitted to the Advanced LL.M. in Law and Digital Technologies at Leiden University is titled “Online Hate Speech and the Prevalence of Freedom of Expression: How it Impacts other Fundamental Rights”. Guilherme is currently a prospect PhD candidate at Leiden University where his research will continue to approach the problems pertaining to the correct application of fundamental rights to the regulation of online hate speech.

In addition to his academic background, Guilherme has more than five years of experience working as a litigation and arbitration lawyer in some of the biggest law firms in Brazil. Most notably Sergio Bermudes Advogados and Fux Advogados. He is also the found member of a group of volunteer lawyers that work for the defense of civil liberties of discriminated groups in Brazil. His work as a lawyer focused on complex litigation and contracts negotiations. This made Guilherme develop and very creative and well-rounded legal mindset.
