Fernande van Tets is a journalist and part-time lecturer in journalism at LUC.
Fernande van Tets is a journalist and author with more than a decade of experience covering the Middle East. From 2011 – 2015, she was a freelance correspondent based in Beirut, where she reported on the war in Syria and its spillover effects in the region, including bombings, the rise of the Islamic State group and refugees. Fernande has worked for newspapers (the Independent, the Economist, Trouw ), radio (BBC, CBS, Radio 1) as well as television (France 24). In the 8th year of the war in Syria, she moved to Damascus to work for the United Nations and subsequently wrote a book. She is the Netherlands correspondent for France 24 and a part-time lecturer at LUC.
