Esther Baakman is a PhD-candidate at the Leiden University Institute for History. She studies Atlantic news in the Dutch Republic between c.1635-1820 with a focus on printed newspapers. Her research is part of prof. Michiel van Groesen’s NWO project Covering the Ocean - Newspapers and Information Management in the Atlantic World, 1580-1820.
