Eric van Hoof studied English Language and Culture at the University of Leiden. He works as IT-consultant and Project Manager at the department of Student and Educational Affairs for Leiden University. His work includes, among others, the e-Prospectus, Mobile environments, Blackboard projects and IT projects in general. While he deals with complex ICT related questions and projects in his work, during his free time he is a PhD student specializing in literature, popular culture and postmodernism.

Research

Eric's thesis examines the use of myth in contemporary popular narratives. Specifically his research touches upon the changes in the use of myth when the sixties progressed into the eighties, and how that is still relevant today.

Important in his research are authors such as Salman Rushdie, Neil Gaiman, but also popular superhero comics such as The Sandman and a franchise such as Star Wars.
