Eline Bergijk studied Biology at Utrecht University and obtained a PhD degree at Leiden University (1994).

She has held various research, teaching and management positions at the Leiden University Medical Center including programme coordinator Biomedical Sciences. In 2007 she was appointed Head of Educational and Student Affairs at the faculty of Science.

In 2017 Eline Bergijk joined the Honours Academy as Educational Director. She is a board member of the Honours Academy and responsible for the organisation and (didactic) quality of its educational programmes. She initiates the development of innovative, interdisciplinairy honours education and stimulates collaboration between faculties and with external organisations.
