Professional experience

Daniël gained his BSc degree in 2014 (University of Applied Sciences Leiden) and his MSc degree in 2016 (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam), both in Bioinformatics. Daniël specialized in applied algorithms and whole-genome sequencing data over the course of his internships.

Immediately after completing his masters Daniël was hired by Omnigen BV. While there, he worked on a number of different projects related to the impact of human genetics on dietary needs and physical exercise. In addition, he expanded and refined his knowledge of software development and cloud computing infrastructure.

Daniël started as a Software developer and Researcher at the Industrial Ecology department of CML in April 2019.

Research topic

Prospective Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is a subdiscipline of LCA that aims at assessing the future environmental performance of technologies as they develop further (e.g. from pilot to industrial scale). Daniël works on implementing prospective LCA theory into practical LCA software within the MIN-TEA project. The aim of MIN-TEA is to provide a set of learning tools and software that allows new and experienced practitioners of LCA to screen emerging technologies for environmental hotspots.
