Chunhong Chen is dedicated to the cultural analysis of architectural heritage, especially the archaeological and cosmological archaeology of ancient architectural heritage. Her research is interdisciplinary and she uses archaeological, astronomical, architecture, imaging, anthropology, and philology to analyze the cultural identity of architectural heritage.
Chen Chunhong's PhD research topic is "Architecture, Time and Cosmology: Chinese and Mesoamerican Architectural Heritage in Comparative Perspective". Architecture has the cultural characteristics of cosmology and is related to ancient calendars, cosmic theory, human thinking, and national architecture grew under the thinking of characteristics. Ancient Chinese traditional Chinese cosmology, while Central American architecture was influenced by the diverse cosmological thinking of local indigenous peoples. In contrast, she strives to find differences and commonalities in the cosmology of the architectural heritage of the two civilizations, and then considers the profound influence of human behavior and ideological activities on the architectural heritage.
