Christiaan Engberts is a PhD student in Herman Paul's research project 'The Scholarly Self: Character, Habit, and Virtue in the Humanities, 1860-1930. More specifically, he works on the sub-project 'Men with a Mission: Informal Accountability Practices'. His research focuses on a case study on informal exchanges amongst scholars in the oriental studies.
In 2010 Christiaan received his MA degree in Philosophy at Leiden University. Subsequently he followed the Research Master program at the Institute for History at the same university. In 2012 he graduated in the specialization 'Migration and Global Interdependence.
