Bridging the Unbridgeable
Research
I am currently investigating attitudes towards usage problems in Great Britain with a regional focus on England and the 'Golden triangle' in particular (London-Oxford-Cambridge). In my PhD project Proper English Usage, which is part of the Bridging the Unbridgeable project and supervised by Prof Dr Ingrid Tieken-Boon van Ostade, I apply a sociolinguistic approach to the study of usage attitudes.
My research interests include sociolinguistics, language ideology, language and identity, and language in the media.
