Byapti Sur (1989) is PhD candidate at the Leiden University Institute for History. She graduated from Jadavpur University, Kolkata with a BA (hons.) in History in 2010. In 2012 she completed her MA in Medieval History from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi before moving to Leiden University in the Netherlands on being awarded a Cosmopolis Scholarship. After earning a diploma in 2013 from Leiden University; she received the Erasmus Mundus (IBIES) scholarship in the same year for starting her PhD under the supervision of Prof. dr. J.J.L. Gommans.
