Brenda van Coppenolle
Brenda Van Coppenolle is an Assistant Professor in Political Science at the Institute of Political Science. She studies political dynasties and political careers.
Her research is broadly concerned with the identities of politicians and how representation changes with the implementation of institutional changes. Her current research investigates political inequality and political careers in the UK and France.
Brenda obtained her PhD from LSE in 2014. Before joining Leiden, she was a Fellow in Quantitative Methods at LSE and a visiting scholar at NYU. She also studied at the KULeuven.
Brenda Van Coppenolle is available to supervise PhD students and invites PhD research proposals in the areas of:
- elections and electoral systems
- political dynasties, political inequality and political careers
- (historical) political economy and quantitative methods (of causal identification)
