Beatriz Pañeda Murcia, from the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, will be present at our Faculty as a guest PhD researcher until May 2017.

Her PhD project aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of Roman cult-places and religious practices by examining public sanctuaries housing several divinities in relation to the question of the synnaoi theoi. The study focusses on three main cults: Mater Magna, the Isiac divinities and Jupiter Optimus Maximus.

Beatriz has been awarded a scholarship from her University for her stay in Leiden and has also secured a grant from the Spanish Ministry of Economy.
