Amber holds a MSc in Communication Science and is passionate about societal problems and science communication. Within the department of Science Communication & Society she is involved in the Leiden Tutoring program and supervising Master students.
Amber is involved in the project 'Broadening Youth Participation in STEM Learning', also known as the Leiden Tutoring program, funded by NWO. The Leiden Tutoring Program is an initiative of the Leiden research group Science Communication & Society.
The project assigns Master students with different educational backgrounds as role models to young children (age 9-11) from disadvantaged neighborhoods at their own school. Through research the project aims to gain understanding of the impact of tutoring on increasing the interest of children (with a low socio-economic background) in STEM learning.
