I focus on the development of Shi`i Islam's legal methodology.

More information about Ahmad Arbaboun

My research is centered on the legal writings of Shaykh Murtaḍā al-Anṣārī (d. 1864). Particularly I look into the development of Shi'i legal methodology and the intellectual trends that lead to this development from the late-eighteenth to mid-nineteenth centuries. I work mainly with texts of principles of jurisprudence (uṣūl al-fiqh) but my research often makes use of texts of positive law (furūʿ al-fiqh) as well.
