[A]Social Creatures Lab

The [A]Social Creatures Lab is an interdisciplinary research lab that focuses on understanding social interaction with and between artificial creatures. Researchers and students from the Media Technology group collaborate in it.

Beyond humanoid robots

The lab studies what social interaction with artificial creatures means. It does so by varying creatures' form, complexity and function. As such, it considers not only humanoid robots, but also abstractly shaped robots, intelligent virtual agents, avatars, non-playing characters, conversational agents, and swarm robots.

What makes interaction with creatures social?

Research topics include the extent in which behavior of creatures is percieved as (anti-)social by studying humans. But also, the effects on humans induced by the behavior of creatures, and the emergence of interaction patterns between creatures as a model for social interaction in nature.
