Education and Supervision Plan
At the start of your PhD, you make agreements with your supervisors concerning your personal development and the supervision you receive. These agreements should be recorded in an Education and Supervision Plan.
What it should include
The Education and Supervision Plan (ESP/OBP) containing agreements about your research, supervision, training, and potential teaching duties as a PhD candidate should be ready no later than three months after the start of your appointment. It should in any case cover the following aspects:
- Any courses and training programmes you are going to follow in the context of your training as a researcher;
- Agreements concerning the form and frequency of the personal supervision you receive during your appointment as a PhD candidate.
The PhD candidate meets with the supervisor on a regular basis, discussing research, training and teaching. Your development is officially evaluated annually during a ‘Result and Development assessment’.
What it should look like
You can find a general template for the ESP in the menu to the right, as well as a specific version for Chinese Scholarship Council (CSC) PhD candidates. Some insitutes, however, use a modified version of the template, so please consult your supervisor about which template to use.
