Bullying in India; the teachers’ role

Background
Bullying is best understood as a process that results from the reciprocal interplay between personal characteristics, and influences from the family, peer group, school, and community or cultural setting. Bullying has serious and long-lasting consequences for all persons involved, even bystanders.
This three wave longitudinal study attempts to find out more about risk and protective factors of bullying and victimization in the Indian context. The study focuses on students’ minority or majority position in class and in the community and on teacher attitudes and behaviors with respect to peer bullying and victimization.
