Lecture: Animals and Robots in the Late Medieval Garden of Eden 29 February 2024
As part of the lecture series 'Religion Matters', Sven Gins (RUG) will speak about moving statues and other ingenuous devices in late medieval France. The lecture will take place on Wednesday, March 13, 17:00-18:00.

Summer school: Medieval “Lived Religion” (Groningen, 24-28 June 2024) 16 February 2024
The University of Groningen is organizing a summer school on the topic of Medieval “Lived Religion” this summer. In this interdisciplinary summer school Masters and PhD students will be challenged by leading specialists dealing with textual and material sources of medieval religious cultures. They will be challenged to question too neat distinction between “official” and “popular”, “text” and “materials”, “practice” and “doctrine”. Apply before: 1 March 2024

Conference Schelde region (14 & 15 March 2024 , filmzaal Abdij, Middelburg) 16 February 2024
In light of the 700th anniversary of the Treaty of Paris of 1323, Project 1323, organized by the Royal Zeeland Society of Sciences and University College Roosevelt, will focus on the scientific and public-historical events highlighting the development of the Scheldt region in the Middle Ages. Following two symposiums and an exhibition centered around the Treaty of Paris and its immediate context, this two-day congress, held in the cinema hall of the Abbey in Middelburg, will examine the long-term developments in the medieval Scheldt region before and after the Peace of Paris.

CfP: "The Charters' Spaces: Spatial and Spatiographic Analyses of Diplomatic Sources" (Namur, 10/11 October 2024) 16 February 2024
The Diplo21 network organizes scientific meetings to provide young researchers working on diplomacy and written practices in medieval Europe with a forum for scientific dialogue and debate, independent of national historiographic traditions. The first theme chosen is 'the charter's spaces'. The particular aim of this conference is to show how diplomacy fits in the spatial turn taken by the humanities and social sciences since the 1970s and the 1980s. Apply before: April 12.

Masterclass: Wondering about 'Reform' in Medieval Sources (4th-11th centuries) - Utrecht, 23-24 May 02 February 2024
On May 23 and 24, a masterclass is organized at Utrecht University on the theme of 'Reform'. Participating students will be rewarded 1 ECTS for preparation and presentation at the workshop, with the possibility of gaining another 2 ECTS to research and write a paper afterwards – for a total of 3 ECTS for the program in its entirety. Deadline for registration: March 29.
