Big Data as case study
Thursday November 9th, the Leiden Centre of Data Science (LCDS) welcomed 23 ambitious MA/PhD students and young professionals from France and the Netherlands to tackle different applications and challenges related to Big Data. Young Talent Meeting 2017 is a multi-angle case study organised by the Dutch-French Network for higher education and research (RFN) and the institution for internationalization of the Dutch higher education (Nuffic).
Active and ambitious
After an excursion to the Amsterdam Science Park on Wednesday, the participants competed in teams to devise strategies for the development of their respective fields of expertise at LCDS. On behalf of the French Embassy in the Netherlands, Premier conseiller Xavier Rey welcomed the students in Leiden, stressing that both France and the Netherlands are active and ambitious in the field of Big Data, motivating the participants to continue their international and interdisciplinary research. The young talents shared the initial results of their research in pitch-presentations, before they visited the centre of Leiden.
On Friday the students presented their ideas and reflections in front of senior experts during the Erasmus-Descartes Conference, which was organized by the French embassy in the Netherlands and the Dutch embassy in France.
