Tanja Masson-Zwaan discusses Space Mining on BBC Radio
Tanja Masson-Zwaan, an assistant professor at the Institute of Air and Space Law, spoke on Friday 14 April about space mining on BBC Radio.
A number of companies in the United States are preparing to start mining activities on the asteroids, the moon and other planets. They believe that this is the solution to the impending shortages of resources on Earth.
In an interview on BBC Radio Tanja Masson-Zwaan (speaking at around the 12th minute) says that the Outer Space Treaty contains no explicit agreements concerning the mining of resources. 'Space lawyer' Masson-Zwaan acknowledges the major possibilities for mining in space, but at the same time warns that this must take place in a regulated and reasonable manner.
