Book launch: The European Union as an Area of Freedom, Security and Justice
On 3 March the book “The European Union as an Area of Freedom, Security and Justice” edited by Maria Fletcher, Claudio Matera and Esther Herlin-Karnell was officially presented at a symposium at VU University Amsterdam.
Jorrit Rijpma, Associate Professor at the Europa Institute, was responsible for the chapter on the European System of Border Guards. Key note speaker at the symposium was José Gutierrez-Fons, legal secretary at the Court of Justice of the European Union, who discussed the recent developments in the case law on mutual trust and mutual recognition. Professor of European Criminal Law, Jannemieke Ouwerkerk, acted as commentator for the Chapters on Eurojust (by Irene Wieczorek) and the future European Public Prosecutor’s Office (by Gerard Conway).
