Our International Moot Court Competitions 2017
Each year the Grotius Centre in The Hague organises a number of internationally renowned moot court competitions. These competitions, also referred to as ‘moots’, offer international law students a unique opportunity to learn more about international (criminal) law in the City of Peace and Justice and to become competent in arguing a case before an international court of law.
The largest moot organised by the Grotius Centre is the International Criminal Court Moot Court Competition in the field of international criminal law. More than 400 participants are involved from 50 different countries. This year, the fourth edition of the ICC moot will be held for the first time at the new Wijnhaven building. The final will take place at the International Criminal Court in The Hague.
The Telders International Law Moot Court Competition will celebrate its fortieth anniversary in May 2017, an event which will attract much attention. Each year more than 150 students from all over Europe participate on this moot court in the field of international law. The Telders final is traditionally held at the Peace Palace.
The Grotius Centre is also involved with the Children’s Rights Moot Court Competition, which is organised in collaboration with the Department of Child Law at Leiden University. The second edition of this moot will be held in March 2017.
And finally, in collaboration with the municipality of The Hague and New York the Grotius Centre organises the International Moot Competition in the field of international criminal law for secondary school pupils from all around the world. The selection for the Dutch All Star Team will take place this coming June. The selected team will participate at the international round of the IMC which will be held in January 2018 at Campus Den Haag.
