Joint programmes

Both within the university and also with outside partners, Leiden University participates in sustainability programmes. These initiatives hopefully contribute to a growing and more robust sustainability movement, locally and world wide.

Leiden University Green Office (LUGO)

LUGO is a hub in Leiden where students and staff members cooperate to make Leiden University more sustainable.

Centre for Sustainability

The Leiden-Delft-Erasmus Centre for Sustainability is an interdisciplinary research centre in which three universities join forces: Leiden University, Delft University of Technology and Erasmus University Rotterdam. These three universities work together to accelerate the transition towards a circular economy.

Global Transformations and Governance Challenges (GTGC) programme

Global Transformations and Governance Challenges (GTGC) at Leiden University aims to advance knowledge and practice on how we govern – and could govern – major world-scale changes in contemporary society. The programme brings together scholars from different faculties at Leiden University, working in highly interdisciplinary teams.

Sustainability Research Cluster

The Sustainability Research Cluster fosters dialogue and collaboration among anthropologists and sociologists researching aspects of socio-cultural, ecological, and economic sustainability in and affiliated with the Institute of Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology.
