Valorisation

In order to realise high quality valorisation of scientific research, eLaw practices valorisation activities during all stages of its research, i.e., not only after finishing research, but also prior to and during research.

Prior to research, the basis for valorisation is created in the stage before a research project is started. Valorisation of research may be difficult when the relevance for and the connection to practice is lacking. Therefore, the starting point for research is a demand driven approach, for instance, for selecting the most appropriate calls and to articulate research questions together with potential applicants for research (see below). In the latter situation, a dialogue is started to make explicit and properly balance the interests and preferences of applicants for research (like useful knowledge, new insights, budget restrictions) with the interests of the researchers (workable research questions, scope limitations, academic independence, discovery of new knowledge).

During ongoing research, valorisation is enhanced by including professionals from practice (in a broad meaning) in the research, for instance, via interviews, supervisory committees, advisory boards and reviews. These instruments also intend to increase the overall quality of the research.

After finishing the research (and already in the final stages) the results are exploited via the usual channels, including scientific, professional and popularising publications and presentations on national and international conferences. Also, the research results are implemented in the education of students, in order to ensure they are offered state of the art knowledge in their learning materials (see above).
