What is Urban Studies?
Do cities fascinate you? Would you like to gain insights into the nature and origin of current and future problems and learn more about, and perhaps help solve, cities’ health, safety, multicultural and sustainability issues? Are you unfazed by statistics and economics and excited at the prospect of following an international, English-language programme? If all these questions elicited a “yes”, then sign up for the Experience Urban Studies!
Urban Studies is a broad bachelor’s programme. After the first, introductory year you will learn more about four relevant themes, namely, the multicultural city, the safe city, the healthy city and the sustainable city. Moreover, by choosing electives, a minor and an internship in year two, mapping out your career path is largely in your own hands.
- Start the day together with your parents by attending the Urban Studies Q&A.
- Next, you will follow a lecture by Prof.dr. Manon van der Heijden called 'The Triumph of the City?'.
- After that you will attend one of the thematic workgroups on Urban Studies. Meanwhile, your parents can join the city tour.
- Then you will have the opportunity to go to the “Meet and Greet”: speak to staff members of Urban Studies, find out more about student life and Leiden University in The Hague.
Are you interested in the new BA programme Urban Studies but not yet sure what it all means? Want to visit a lecture and a work group? Come to the Experience Day in The Hague and find an answer to all your questions. If you have any questions at this moment, please send an e-mail to email@example.com.
Bring your parents?
Would your parents like to join you at the Experience Day? Not a problem! The workgroups are only available for students, but don’t worry: we’ll keep your parents busy while you’re experiencing our programme! They can join a tour through The Hague, or ask questions they might have about the programme.
