Book Discussion 'Ethics or the right thing?' by Sylvia Tidey
- Sylvia Tidey
- Thursday 23 June 2022
2311 BE Leiden
- Conference room of KITLV (Room 1.68)
Sylvia Tidey illustrates how good governance initiatives paradoxically perpetuate civil service corruption while also facilitating the emergence of new forms of it by combining ethnographic fieldwork in the city of Kupang with an acute historical sensibility. The book 'Ethics or the right thing? Corruption and care in the age of good governance' will be essential reading for anthropologists and other social scientists, especially those interested in global studies, development studies, and Southeast Asia.
This book discussion will be a hybrid event, taking place both in KITLV's conference room (room 1.68) and online via Zoom.
It is necessary to register. If you want to come to this book talk in person, please RSVP to email@example.com.
Seating is limited.
If you want to participate in the book discussion online, please register first.
This webinar is organized by KITLV and the Asia Research Cluster of the Leiden University Institute of Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology.
Sylvia Tidey is Assistant Professor of Anthropology and Global Studies at the University of Virginia.
