This statement of intent was urged by the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with a Disability and has led to the start of the Barrier-Free Studying project in 2020. One of the main goals of the project was; creating an inclusive environment where people with a disability can find their way, without help of others. Other important goals were student participation and knowledge accumulation to employees and students.

Romke Biagioni and Sonja Wagenaar are both part of the project Barrier-Free Studying. Sonja is the project manager of this project and involved in the strategic part of this project. Romke is project member and counselor on the department Student Support Services. She focuses on improving education for students with a disability and offers students counseling to these students.
