After the nice talk by Richard Wombacher last week, we have another excellent speaker coming up in the Chemical Biology lecture series. Next up we have Dr. Hannes Mikula from the Technical University in Vienna. Dr. Mikula is one of the prime innovators in the field of click, and click-to-release chemistry. He has for example developed new approaches to deliver radionuclides to tumors using in vivo antibody click-methods. In a second research line is has developed some beautiful developments in the field of bio-orthogonal deprotection chemistry in which chemical bonds can be selectively broken in vivo. In short, chemical biology pur sang.
