FSW Young Faculty Lunch: Tackling Work Pressure
- Thursday 27 May 2021
- Zoom link will be shared with registered participants
Many academics struggle with work pressure, including early career scholars. Young Academy Leiden has recently published its position paper ‘Structural Changes to Tackle Work Pressure’ that discusses some of the causes and solutions to this issue. Our proposals include a better match between teaching and research interest, shorter academic year, a clear communication charter and less emphasis on the quantity of research output.
We recognize that researchers in the various faculties and disciplines face different challenges. Therefore, we invite early career scholars from the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences to discuss the issue of work pressure in the social and behavioural sciences during an online Young Faculty Lunch on Thursday 27 May, 12-13pm. After a short presentation about YAL’s position paper, we invite you to share your experiences and solutions in breakout rooms. FSW Dean Paul Wouters will join us to reflect on the issue from the perspective from the Faculty Board and hear your concerns and suggestions.
Please sign up here by 26 May. We are looking forward to seeing many of you. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
