- Thursday 29 April 2021
- Online (Hopin)
True to tradition, the Chemisch Dispuut Leiden will organise a symposium to celebrate its 19th lustrum. The overall theme of the symposium will be ‘Excited State’. Five years ago, during the 18th lustrum, this symposium was held in the Gorlaeus building and was a huge success. Due to obvious reasons, this year the symposium will be held online. However, this does not mean that the symposium therefore be less interesting. On the contrary, since the symposium will be held online, speakers that should travel too much for a physical symposium can now speak from their own country.
In this context the Nobel prize winner of Chemistry in 2008 dr. Martin Chalfie will tell something about his research and development of the Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP). Furthermore, prof. dr. Dirk Trauner from the New York University, prof. dr. Nathalie Katsonis from the University of Groningen and prof. dr. Ewine van Dishoeck from the Leiden University will tell something about their research related to Excited State.
The symposium will be held on Hopin and will take place on the 29th of April from 12:30 until around 17:15. It is completely free to join the symposium, but sign-up is required.
