This workshop is an introduction to dental non-metric analysis. It will cover the scoring of traits using the Arizona State University dental anthropology system (ASUDAS), and subsequent analysis using R statistical software. Trait plaques are provided on-site for practice, and data collection will be conducted on archaeological skeletal remains. Statistical methods introduced will include principal components analysis (PCA) and the mean measure of divergence (MMD).
Basic knowledge of dental anatomy is required. No previous experience with R is necessary. A certificate of completion will be provided at the end of the workshop.
