Com(parative) Syn(tax) Series - 2019/2020

ComSyn is a series of lectures about (comparative) syntax.

ComSyn started as discussion group about Comparative Syntax at Leiden University Center for Linguistics (LUCL). Now, it is primarily a series of lectures about (comparative) syntax. Speakers from all over the world are very welcome to present their work in an informal setting. ComSyn is the perfect place to present work in progress, do a mock defense, do dry runs for a conference or simply present a syntactic problem one would like to share with other people. If you have any suggestions, please contact one of the organisers, Martin KroonHang ChengElisabeth Kerr, and Astrid van Alem.

*Following the latest advice of Leiden University and the Dutch government regarding the Corona virus (COVID-19), the planned ComSyn talks for the spring season will not (all) go ahead in person. This applies at least for those scheduled up to 6th April, and potentially for longer. We invite speakers to postpone and are also looking into holding talks online as a possible alternative to meeting in person.

Tentative dates

  • 9 Apr - Boban Arsenijevic
  • 16 Apr – Sjef Barbiers + Astrid van Alem
  • 23 Apr - Patricia Cabredo Hofherr (combined lecture with LUSH)
  • 30 Apr – Zorica Puskar
  • 14 May – Marcel den Dikken (Skype lecture)
