Current developments in synthetic biology have opened a plethora of applications. With these applications come ethics and regulations. What are the boundaries of biotechnology? Can and should we build life? Should we genetically engineer people and if so, in what medical situation? Is synthetic biology a threat to life as we know it? Share your opinion during this interactive evening in Leiden.
Overview of the discussion
The evening will start with a word-of-welcome by a presenter. Each topic will start with a short interactive presentation on the subject. At the end of this presentation, the public will be asked to raise their hands whether they are in favour of the statement. People from the public are free to walk to the microphone, introduce themselves and explain their opinion. Now, the specialists can give their opinion and go into discussion with each other. The presenter will guide the discussion, so all essential points can be made.
