Abstract: Most people’s engagement with our subject today comes not from scholarly or popular print publications, but from the internet. In this paper I shall explore some of the images of Hippocrates which are currently shared in different online communities and in particular the way these play out in news media. My aim is not so much to entertain, by sharing some of the claims for missing treatises and modern insights attributed to Hippocrates, as to ask how we as a scholarly community can best improve the internet literacy of our widest audiences.
