It is our pleasure to announce the lecture of Prof. dr. Helma Wennemers as part of the chemical biology lecture series. Helma Wennemers (https://wennemers.ethz.ch/) studied chemistry at Frankfurt University (Germany) and performed PhD research under the tutelage of Professor W. Clark Still at Columbia University, New York, USA.
She did postdoctoral research with Professor H. Yamamoto (Nagoya University, Japan) after which she returned to Europe to establish her independent career in Switzerland. She was Assistant (1999-2003) and Associate Professor (2003-2011) at the University of Basel before taking up a Full Professorship at the ETH Zürich, where she is now. Helma is internationally well known for her research in asymmetric organocatalysis, her work in chemical biology as well as her work in supramolecular chemistry and nanotechnology, all of which revolve around a common theme: peptides, their structure and how they can be manipulated to perform a desired function.
If you want to meet with Prof. Wennemers you can contact Hermen Overkleeft (h.s.overkleeft@lic.leidenuniv.nl).
