Research Design Club #3- Design and the Deep Future
- Friday 24 May 2019
- Royal Academy of Art (KABK)
Do you have a design-related research practice and does your research engage with climate change / the environment / the Anthropocene / geological time? Would you like to present your project to fellow researchers, find potential collaborators, and participate in interdisciplinary exchange and discussion?
Join us on Friday May 24, 2019 for the third meeting of the KABK Design / Research Club, a forum for researchers from the KABK and Leiden University involved in research in, and through, design-related disciplines. The meeting will be introduced and led by Alice Twemlow, lector Design at the KABK and Associate Professor at Leiden University’s Academy of Creative and Performing Arts (ACPA).
The aim is to identify and nurture emergent and developing research projects, share findings and best practices, and create a network of potential collaborators or mentors. In addition, during this special themed edition of the Design / Research Club, we are looking for projects to feature on the new Design Lectorate website.
Topics might include climate change, the Anthropocene, geological time, repair, re-use, trash, waste, disposal, bio-design, digital detritus, e-waste, circular economy, space junk, time-based methods, to name a few.
Participants will share their research in progress, and engage in discussion about shared points of interest such as methods, approaches and references as well as practical matters such as funding, organisation, publishing and dissemination. The aim is to identify and nurture emergent and developing research projects, share findings and best practices, and create a network of potential collaborators or mentors.
