For more than a century, economic historians have been busy compiling indices of wages, prices, and exchange rates over time. More recently a few ambitious studies have attempted to trace the history of GDP for the UK and the Low Countries. While the history of wages and prices says something about the history of the wage labourer, economic historians have mostly been interested in these figures (as with GDP and exchange rates) for what they say about the growth of economies as a whole.
Students and staff are invited.
